Bus Maintenance and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Facility
The LADOT Bus Maintenance Facility project was awarded the “Sustainable Engineering Project of the Year” by the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). ASCE selected the LADOT Transit facility “in recognition of the project’s unique achievements, its complexity, scope, and engineering features.”

The LADOT Bus Maintenance and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Facility includes a 21,625 square foot two-story administration building and an 1,800 square foot service structure. The facility contains administration offices, a bus maintenance shop, a bus washing facility, layover parking for express buses, and serves as the primary storage/fueling area.
Commissioned equipment included a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system with over 20 Fan Coils, the CNG detection and exhaust system, domestic hot water systems, lighting control systems, and a 240 kW photovoltaic array. Systems were commissioned based on LEED BD+C. The project has been certified LEED Platinum by the USGBC for its sustainable elements, which includes a large Solar PV system, high efficiency HVAC, low-electricity lighting, and water reclamation systems.
